Decoration Regulations for Union Chapel Cemetery

ON-GRAVE DECORATIONS FOR FUNERAL SERVICES - Decorations, including flowers and plants, if placed on a grave as part of a funeral service held in the Cemetery, are allowed. Anyone wishing to retain these decorations, flowers, or plants must remove them from the Cemetery within one week after the funeral. These decorations, flowers, and plants placed on a grave will be removed by the Cemetery after one week and disposed of immediately.

SCATTERING GARDEN AND CENTRAL GARDEN - No decorations are permitted in the Scattering Garden or in the Central Garden areas, both located in the North section of the cemetery.

ON-MONUMENT DECORATIONS DURING MOWING SEASON - During the grass mowing season of the cemetery, no flowers or decorations may be placed on any grave, except if they are on the monument or its concrete base. However, flowers or plants placed on the grave for funeral services held in the Cemetery are allowed to remain on the grave for one week.

ON-GRAVE DECORATIONS FROM NOVEMBER 1ST UNTIL MARCH 1ST - Winter decorations, such as holly, evergreen or wreaths may be placed on graves beginning November 1ST and remain until the following March 1ST, after which date all such decorations will be removed by the Cemetery without notice, will not be retained, and will be disposed of immediately. If the owner of the winter decorations wishes to remove the decorations themselves, they must remove them from the cemetery before March first.

APPROVAL FOR PLANTING - Planting of all flowers, plants, shrubs, or trees must be approved by the Cemetery prior to any preparation for or actual planting. Unapproved plantings will be removed by the Cemetery without notice, will not be retained, and will be disposed of immediately.

PROHIBITED SUPPORTS FOR DECORATIONS, FLOWERS, OR PLANTS INCLUDING "SHEPHERD'S HOOKS" - Supports for decorations, flowers, and plants are not allowed to remain in the cemetery unless the support mounts solely on the monument for the grave. "Shepherd's hooks" are not allowed to remain in the cemetery. Non-allowed supports, and "shepherd's hooks" will be removed by the Cemetery without notice, will not be retained, and will be disposed of immediately.

ALLOWED BOUQUET HOLDERS - All bouquet holders shall be the invertible type and set in concrete, flush with the ground and must be approved by the Cemetery before any preparation for or actual installation.

PLACEMENT OF VASES AND URNS AND FLOWER REMOVAL - Vases or urns used to plant or display flowers, plants, shrubs, or trees shall be placed on concrete bases, installed by the Cemetery, at the lot owner's expense. All cut flowers and plants will be removed from vases and urns after they become unsightly (wilt) and disposed of by the Cemetery.

BENCHES AND CHAIRS PROHIBITED - Benches and chairs that remain in the cemetery are prohibited.

PROHIBITED DECORATIONS - Temporary decorative items of every description are not allowed to remain in the cemetery, such as plaques, figures, flags, toys, cases, boxes, globes, shells, cans, jugs, bottles, ornaments, knickknacks, and trinkets.

RIGHT TO REMOVE AND DISPOSE OF MATERIAL - The Cemetery reserves the right to remove and dispose of non-allowed or prohibited material or any material they deem to be unsightly or interfere with normal Cemetery maintenance. Material will be removed by the Cemetery without notice, will not be retained, and will be disposed of immediately.

LIABILITY - The Cemetery is not liable for any allowed or prohibited items or material brought to the Cemetery while on Cemetery property.
